July 16, 2004: Wonder Wheel Distortions
Photoshop is a really interesting and complex program to play around with. I have only had it for a week to date, and do not have a user's manual. So I have no clue what I am doing. Maybe I should take a class (like the one advertised for at my laundromat) or buy a book. Until then, I'll use it on a trial and error (or, error and error) basis.
This is a collection of distortions of the same image - the Coney Island Wonder Wheel. It was taken from the top of the wheel, looking down at other cars. The top picture is the original - it is very bright because I used a very slow shutter speed, so a lot of light came in (probably too much, but hey, you've go to experiment). In the middle photograph, I used a light inversion effect, which inverted it's light and contrast levels. And in the bottom, I used an ocean ripple effect, which made the image wavy.
