July 12, 2004: Manhattan Bridge
The Manhattan Bridge has recently became fully operational. The B, D, N and Q trains now run across the bridge for the first time in 18 years. Traveling between Manhattan and Brooklyn is now relatively painless. I was pretty impressed how quickly the Q train took me across the East River (although my favorite way to get from Manhattan to Brooklyn is to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, found in the background of this photograph).
This photograph was taken on the way back from my Coney Island/Brighton Beach excursion. I like how the sun reflects off the water and accentuates the scratches in the subway car window.
