July 08, 2004: Wall Street 1
This July 4th, my friend Shane threw a barbeque (without the barbeque) on the rooftop of his high-rise building in Wall Street.
I have never been a fan of the Wall Street area. Something about it has always made me feel dirty (not dirty in a good way, either). However, being on Shane's rooftop gave me an opportunity to see the colossal buildings from a different perspective - above them. While the more modern buildings are generic looking eyesores, some of the older architecture is quite beautiful.
Walking around Wall Street is like being in a canyon of skyscrapers. Taking this picture from the top of Shane's rooftop was like photographing a canyon halfway down - I thought that I was going to be above it all, but there were buildings still that towered above me. It made me feel claustrophobic.
[Unrelated: We were high enough that my fear of heights kicked in at certain times.]
